Street food Rendang — the authentic version
The best Rendang I've ever had came from a street stall, not a restaurant. The complex from slow-cooked rendang intensity was completely different — more direct and uncompromised. tempeh was used without hesitation, the way it should be.
Indonesian cuisine spans over 17,000 islands with dramatically different regional traditions. The a Jakarta street food cart setting meant eating standing up or on a low stool, which is how this food is supposed to be encountered. kopi tubruk was sold right next to it.
