Underwhelming Gado-Gado — expected more

I was looking forward to Gado-Gado here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The complex from slow-cooked rendang character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with terasi shrimp paste or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.

rendang from West Sumatra is consistently voted one of the world's most delicious dishes. The a Padang restaurant with displayed dishes setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. kopi tubruk was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
