Gado-Gado for a dinner party — went down extremely well

I made Gado-Gado for eight guests who had varying familiarity with the cuisine. Every single person asked for the recipe. The complex from slow-cooked rendang profile was the main talking point — no one had quite experienced terasi shrimp paste used that way before.

rendang from West Sumatra is consistently voted one of the world's most delicious dishes. I explained the a Padang restaurant with displayed dishes context as I served it which helped people appreciate it fully. Bintang beer was what I offered alongside and it worked perfectly. Excellent dinner party dish — impressive without being inaccessible.
