Best Lecsó I've had — and I've tried a few

Having eaten Lecsó at several restaurants over the past year, I can say this version is the best. The hearty and warming quality is more pronounced here than anywhere else I've tried. lard is handled with real knowledge — you can taste the difference.

This is proper a Budapest csárda tavern cooking, not an adaptation for foreign tastes. Tokaji wine was the obvious choice and the combination was perfect. Hungarian cuisine was shaped by nomadic Magyar traditions mixed with Ottoman and Habsburg influences. Would return for this dish alone.
