First time trying Kartoffelsalat — completely converted

I had never tried Kartoffelsalat before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The hearty and deeply savoury taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. caraway seeds is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.

The a traditional Gasthaus setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. German bread culture is extraordinarily diverse with over 300 officially registered varieties. My server recommended schnapps after the meal alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Kartoffelsalat. Outstanding first encounter.
