First time trying Black Forest Cake — completely converted
I had never tried Black Forest Cake before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The smoky and satisfying taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. caraway seeds is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.
The a winter Christmas market setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. German bread culture is extraordinarily diverse with over 300 officially registered varieties. My server recommended Riesling alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Black Forest Cake. Outstanding first encounter.
