First time trying Feteer Meshaltet — completely converted
I had never tried Feteer Meshaltet before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The deeply savoury and spiced taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. molokhia leaves is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.
The a Nile-side restaurant setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. koshari is considered the national dish representing the multicultural influence on Egyptian cooking. My server recommended Egyptian Stella beer alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Feteer Meshaltet. Outstanding first encounter.
