Honest verdict on Llapingachos — good but not exceptional
Llapingachos here was solidly made — earthy from corn without anything to complain about. aji criollo was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.
llapingachos potato cakes are a highland staple tied to Andean agricultural tradition. The an indigenous market food stall in the Andes atmosphere was pleasant enough. naranjilla juice was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Llapingachos this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
