Honest verdict on Fanesca — good but not exceptional

Fanesca here was solidly made — fresh and citrusy without anything to complain about. culantro was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.

llapingachos potato cakes are a highland staple tied to Andean agricultural tradition. The a Quito mercado central atmosphere was pleasant enough. Club beer was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Fanesca this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
