Best Svíčková na Smetaně I've had — and I've tried a few
Having eaten Svíčková na Smetaně at several restaurants over the past year, I can say this version is the best. The subtly tangy from pickles quality is more pronounced here than anywhere else I've tried. bread dumplings is handled with real knowledge — you can taste the difference.
This is proper a ski resort lunch cooking, not an adaptation for foreign tastes. Moravian wine was the obvious choice and the combination was perfect. Czech cuisine is inseparable from beer culture, one of the world's highest per-capita consumption nations. Would return for this dish alone.
