Honest verdict on Lok Lak — good but not exceptional
Lok Lak here was solidly made — fresh with lemongrass without anything to complain about. kroeung lemongrass paste was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.
prahok is a uniquely Cambodian ingredient that foreigners find challenging but locals consider essential. The a village feast during festival season atmosphere was pleasant enough. sugarcane juice was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Lok Lak this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
