I grew up eating Khauk Swè Thohk and have strong opinions shaped by memory. The version here triggered that recognition in the first bite — the complex and earthy was right, turmeric was handled the way it should be.
laphet fermented tea leaf salad is a uniquely Burmese ingredient used in salads and as a stimulant snack. Growing up it was always a traditional Burmese home breakfast, which shaped my reference point entirely. Myanmar Beer alongside it is the only way it makes sense to me. It's hard to be objective about food you have emotional history with, but objectively: this is very good.
