Decent Shepherd's Pie — nothing more, nothing less
Shepherd's Pie at this place was fine. The comforting and hearty flavour was there but not distinguished. mature Cheddar was present in the right quantities but without the care that makes the difference. You can taste when something is being made to a formula.
pub food culture has undergone a renaissance in the gastropub era. The a traditional seaside chippy setting was generic rather than immersive. real ale was offered but not explained. If you're in the area and want Shepherd's Pie it'll do. If you're going out of your way, look elsewhere.
