The Scotch Egg I grew up eating — memory as a review
I grew up eating Scotch Egg and have strong opinions shaped by memory. The version here triggered that recognition in the first bite — the rich and savoury was right, mature Cheddar was handled the way it should be.
British cuisine was shaped by the Empire, introducing curries and international ingredients into the national diet. Growing up it was always a Sunday pub lunch, which shaped my reference point entirely. a glass of claret with Sunday roast alongside it is the only way it makes sense to me. It's hard to be objective about food you have emotional history with, but objectively: this is very good.
