Underwhelming Pão de Queijo — expected more

I was looking forward to Pão de Queijo here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The rich and earthy character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with black beans or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.

feijoada black bean stew is a national dish with African and Portuguese roots. The a Rio de Janeiro boteco bar setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. açaí bowl was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
