First time trying Charquekan — completely converted
I had never tried Charquekan before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The simple and honest taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. ají amarillo is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.
The an indigenous community festival feast setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. salteñas are distinct from Argentinian empanadas with a juicy broth filling. My server recommended chicha de maíz alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Charquekan. Outstanding first encounter.
