Underwhelming Bhuna Khichuri — expected more

I was looking forward to Bhuna Khichuri here based on the reputation. The reality was disappointing. The pungent from mustard oil character that makes this dish special was muted — either from shortcuts with panch phoron five-spice or from scaling up production at the expense of quality.

Bengali cuisine shares roots with West Bengal India but has distinct Muslim food traditions. The a family Friday hilsa lunch setting I was hoping for wasn't quite there either. lassi was available but not suggested appropriately. I've had much better versions elsewhere. Two stars because the dish concept is sound; the execution let it down.
