Honest verdict on Plov — good but not exceptional
Plov here was solidly made — aromatic with fresh herbs without anything to complain about. quince was present and handled reasonably. But something was missing from the depth that this dish should have.
Azerbaijani cuisine reflects Turkic, Persian, and Caucasian influences meeting at a historical crossroads. The a Baku meykhana restaurant atmosphere was pleasant enough. armudu black tea was available and a good suggestion. For a reliable version of Plov this works. For an exceptional one, I'd keep looking. Three stars.
