First time trying Khash — completely converted
I had never tried Khash before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The subtly tangy taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. dried apricots zardalu is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.
The a Yerevan restaurant setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. Armenia claims the world's oldest winery dating to 4100 BC and has a deep wine-making heritage. My server recommended pomegranate wine alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Khash. Outstanding first encounter.
