Most people overlook how much the right drink changes Harissa. I ordered it with pomegranate wine and the sweet-sour from pomegranate and apricot elements of the dish sharpened considerably against the pairing. pomegranate in particular became more prominent in a good way.

Armenia claims the world's oldest winery dating to 4100 BC and has a deep wine-making heritage. The a Yerevan restaurant is where you learn these pairings — they evolved together. If you've been having Harissa with the wrong drink, try it correctly once. It's a genuinely different experience. The restaurant deserves credit for getting this right.
