Alfajores for a dinner party — went down extremely well
I made Alfajores for eight guests who had varying familiarity with the cuisine. Every single person asked for the recipe. The intensely beefy and smoky profile was the main talking point — no one had quite experienced yerba mate used that way before.
Argentina consumes more beef per capita than almost any other country. I explained the a Buenos Aires steakhouse context as I served it which helped people appreciate it fully. Fernet and cola was what I offered alongside and it worked perfectly. Excellent dinner party dish — impressive without being inaccessible.
