I spent three months trying every version of Lawand I could find locally. The variation in quality is extraordinary. The best version handled saffron with genuine knowledge and the fragrant and warming result was noticeably superior.

Afghan hospitality tradition demands feeding guests regardless of the host's circumstances. The winning restaurant had the right a teahouse on the Silk Road route feel — unpretentious and focused on the food. green cardamom tea was suggested correctly. Worth the search. When Lawand is made properly it's a completely different experience.
