First time trying Firni — completely converted
I had never tried Firni before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The hearty and rice-forward taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. dried sour grapes kishmish is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.
The an Afghan restaurant abroad setting added something to the experience — this kind of food makes sense in that environment. Afghan hospitality tradition demands feeding guests regardless of the host's circumstances. My server recommended qymaq cream tea alongside and it was exactly right. I've been telling everyone to try Firni. Outstanding first encounter.
