A gateway drink that opened a whole world

My first serious Tequila was a gift and it genuinely opened a new chapter in how I think about drinking. The complexity — especially the complexity on the palate — was unlike anything I'd experienced. Served with a splash of water by the person who gave it, with an explanation of what I was tasting.

That experience sent me down a path of exploration that's still ongoing. There are entire regions, styles, and producers I haven't touched yet. The category rewards curiosity like few others.
