My 17 days exploring Kyiv and beyond — completely worth it

I spent 17 days in Ukraine and based myself mainly in Kyiv. The city itself exceeded expectations — the St. Sophia Cathedral was genuinely jaw-dropping and I ended up visiting twice. Food was a highlight throughout; I must have eaten salo with rye bread every other day and have no regrets about it whatsoever.

What I didn't expect was baroque architecture. That element really elevated the trip from good to exceptional. The locals I encountered were warm and patient with my attempts at the language. I'd encourage anyone on the fence to just book it.
