Solo trip to Peru: everything you need to know

Did 5 days solo in Peru and found it extremely manageable as a solo traveller. The transport network around Arequipa is decent and getting to Colca Canyon independently was straightforward. Met fellow travellers easily and locals were generally happy to chat.

Machu Picchu lives up to its reputation was a personal highlight — something I'd only found in independent travel research. One note: Inca Trail permits sell out months ahead. Nothing serious but worth knowing. The solo experience here was genuinely rewarding and I came home having learned a lot about a place I knew very little about.
