Honeymoon in Mexico — San Miguel de Allende and the countryside delivered everything

We chose Mexico for our honeymoon and it was perfect for us. The romantic atmosphere in San Miguel de Allende at night, the drama of Monte Albán, the intimacy of small restaurants serving mole negro — all of it added up to exactly what we were hoping for.

world-class cuisine became an unexpected gift — something we stumbled across that felt made for the occasion. We had 19 days and used every one of them well. Some destinations disappoint when the pressure of a special occasion is on them. Mexico didn't.
