My 20 days exploring Pécs and beyond — completely worth it

I spent 20 days in Hungary and based myself mainly in Pécs. The city itself exceeded expectations — the Eger Castle was genuinely jaw-dropping and I ended up visiting twice. Food was a highlight throughout; I must have eaten Hortobágy pancakes every other day and have no regrets about it whatsoever.

What I didn't expect was thermal bath culture. That element really elevated the trip from good to exceptional. The locals I encountered were warm and patient with my attempts at the language. I'd encourage anyone on the fence to just book it.
