Honeymoon in Georgia — Batumi and the countryside delivered everything
We chose Georgia for our honeymoon and it was perfect for us. The romantic atmosphere in Batumi at night, the drama of Svaneti towers, the intimacy of small restaurants serving chacha brandy — all of it added up to exactly what we were hoping for.

Unexpected emotional depth in Georgia
I thought I was going to Georgia for beaches, food, and Gergeti Trinity Church. I got all of those things. What I didn't expect was how emotionally affecting the trip would be. The history — particularly around Kutaisi — hit in ways that good travel sometimes does.

Mtskheta surprised me completely on this trip to Georgia
I went to Georgia with modest expectations and left completely won over, largely thanks to time spent in Mtskheta. The city has a pace and character that travel guides undersell. Found a great spot for pkhali on day two and went back every day after that.
Gergeti Trinity Church was the big planned …

Honest review after 10 days — mostly great, a few gripes
Visited Georgia for 10 days. The positives are real: Vardzia cave monastery is every bit as impressive as advertised, and the food scene around Mtskheta is genuinely excellent — try khachapuri if you haven't. ancient Christian heritage was an unexpected bonus.
That said, Georgian script is complete…

What nobody tells you about visiting Georgia
After a lot of research I thought I knew what to expect from Georgia. Some things matched: Svaneti towers is as spectacular as every review says, and Mtskheta has a genuine energy I'd read about. The khinkali dumplings obsession is completely justified.
What I wasn't prepared for: extraordinary cui…

My 11 days exploring Sighnaghi and beyond — completely worth it
I spent 11 days in Georgia and based myself mainly in Sighnaghi. The city itself exceeded expectations — the Old Tbilisi was genuinely jaw-dropping and I ended up visiting twice. Food was a highlight throughout; I must have eaten chacha brandy every other day and have no regrets about it whatsoever.…

Disappointed by the tourist experience around Vardzia cave monastery
Vardzia cave monastery in Georgia is extraordinary — the scale and history hit you immediately. But the experience around it has been thoroughly commercialised. Getting there, navigating the crowds, and dealing with persistent sellers around Tbilisi centre made it more stressful than it should be.

Photography trip to Georgia — every frame a gift
I came to Georgia specifically for photography and the country delivered material at every turn. Svaneti towers at dawn was everything I'd hoped. Kutaisi's streets at dusk are an endless source of light and texture. The people, once comfortable with a camera, are extraordinary subjects.

Honest thoughts on Georgia after my first visit
First time in Georgia and I tried to approach it with open eyes rather than preconceptions. Mtskheta was the base and a good one — central, manageable, and with strong food options including the best khinkali dumplings I've ever had. Gergeti Trinity Church was the big set piece and fully justified t…
