Escape artist — get a secure enclosure

Corn snakes are notorious escape artists and my first snake confirmed this. She found a gap in the lid of her first enclosure within a week and disappeared for three days before I found her behind the bookcase. I immediately upgraded to a purpose-built reptile enclosure with clip-lock lids. Since then, zero escapes in five years. The snake herself is wonderful — just take escape-proofing seriously before you bring one home.
