Heavy, warm, and wonderfully calm

What I love most about my blue-tongued skink is the weight of her — she's 450g and feels substantial and warm when she settles on my arm. Unlike delicate geckos or snakes, she feels robust and secure. She explores slowly and methodically, investigating everything with her flickering blue tongue. After four years she recognises my voice and comes to be let out every evening. A truly exceptional reptile companion.
