Wonderful bird that requires serious research first

I came from a cockatiel background and assumed an Amazon would be a natural upgrade. The hormonal aggression caught me completely off guard and I made mistakes early on that took two years of patient training to undo. Now that I understand the species better we have a great relationship. But I urge anyone considering an Amazon to deeply research their hormonal behaviour before committing. These are powerful birds with complex emotional lives.
