Vet health issues are real — budget accordingly

Ferrets are prone to several serious health conditions — insulinoma (pancreatic tumour), adrenal disease, and lymphoma are distressingly common in ferrets over 4 years old. My older ferret was diagnosed with insulinoma at 5 and the treatment (medication and diet modification) has given her an extra year of quality life. Ferret vet care is specialist and expensive. Budget for health costs before committing to ferrets.
