More independent than I wanted

I wanted an affectionate, responsive companion dog. My Scottie is affectionate on her terms, which are less frequent than I prefer, and responsive to commands when it suits her, which is less frequent than I require. She is a wonderful personality but my ideal dog is more demonstratively loving and more reliably obedient. She would be perfect for someone who appreciates a more self-contained, independent companion.
