Surprisingly trainable

My Mastiff took to training faster than I expected. He is motivated by praise and a calm, consistent approach gets excellent results. His size means teaching loose-leash walking was a genuine priority and he responded well to it. He now walks beautifully beside me which is essential when you are managing two hundred pounds of dog. He is obedient and manageable with proper foundational training. Do not skip this step with this breed.
