Challenging first year

I underestimated how much work a Bull Terrier puppy would be. He was mouthy, destructive, and seemingly impossible to tire out. We went through a professional trainer and it helped enormously. By eighteen months he had settled significantly. He is now a manageable, affectionate adult. But the puppy phase was genuinely one of the hardest things I have done. If you are considering this breed, be prepared for an intense first year.
