My heart dog

I have owned many breeds over the years and my Boston Terrier has claimed a place in my heart that none of the others quite managed. He is present with me in a way that is hard to describe. He watches my face constantly, responds to my tone of voice, and seems genuinely invested in my wellbeing. Whe…

Smart and trainable

My Boston learned forty commands in his first year and remembers every single one. He is sharp, attentive, and genuinely enjoys training sessions. The only challenge is he can be stubborn about things he finds unpleasant, like having his nails trimmed or going out in the rain. Once he decides he doe…

Perfect city dog with minor caveats

My Boston is my ideal companion for urban life. She is small enough to take everywhere, sociable enough that she makes friends on every outing, and calm enough that she is welcome in coffee shops and friends' homes. The breathing issues in summer heat are real and we have to limit midday exercise fr…

Best dog for my lifestyle

I work from home and my Boston Terrier has been the perfect companion for my routine. He stays near me while I work, goes on two walks a day enthusiastically, and spends evenings on my lap. He is not demanding or anxious, just content to be near me. His coat requires almost no brushing and he baths …

Joyful and entertaining

He has elaborate ways of communicating what he wants, dramatic reactions to everything, and a sense of humour that seems almost deliberate. He makes everyone in the family laugh every single day. He is gentle with my elderly mother, …

Great with seniors and kids alike

My seventy-year-old mother visits every week and my Boston is the highlight of her visit. He sits next to her on the sofa, lets her pet him for hours, and seems to sense her need for gentle company. With my eight-year-old son he is completely different, bouncy and playful and ready to run around the…

Lovable but health issues are real

My Boston has had two cherry eye surgeries and ongoing skin fold issues around her face. The vet bills have been significant. She is a lovely, affectionate dog with a wonderful personality but the brachycephalic health concerns are not trivial. Before getting this breed I would strongly recommend re…

The American Gentleman lives up to his name

My Boston Terrier is quite simply the most charming dog I have ever owned. He is perfectly sized for my apartment, is friendly to everyone without being overwhelming, and has manners that put many humans to shame. He learned his training commands quickly and performs them reliably. His snoring is Ol…
