My mother's perfect companion

We got a Bichon Frise for my elderly mother who lives alone and the results have been transformative. The dog gives her a reason to get up, go outside, and engage with the neighbourhood. Neighbours stop to chat during walks and she has made more friends in six months than in the previous year. The breed is gentle enough for an older person to handle and affectionate enough to provide real companionship.
