Great with proper socialization

Started socializing my Akita from eight weeks old and the difference is noticeable compared to other Akitas I have met. He is calm around dogs he knows and tolerates well-mannered strangers. He has a strong independent streak that makes training an ongoing negotiation rather than a one-time lesson but he is responsive when motivated. The loyalty and protection he provides are second to none.
