A forest cat who chose to live with us

I think about my Siberian as a creature who had other options — she's clearly capable of surviving in the wild — but chose domestic life. There's something deeply flattering about that. She engages with me as an equal, on her terms, and her chosen affection feels more meaningful because it's genuinely chosen. An extraordinary animal.
