The Serengeti is a relatively new American breed developed in the 1990s to resemble the African serval without using wild cat blood. Created from crosses between Oriental Shorthairs and Bengals, Serengetis have a spotted coat, long legs, and large ears that give them a striking wild appearance. They are active, friendly, and highly social cats who need plenty of stimulation and interaction.

Pros

  • Friendly and sociable with people and other pets
  • Active and engaging companion
  • Healthy due to diverse breeding

Cons

  • Very high energy requires significant environmental enrichment
  • Vocal and communicative
  • Needs significant interaction
  • Relatively rare, limited breeders available

The contrast between her wild appearance and her domestic sweetness is one of the great pleasures of this breed. She is loyal to my family, gentle with my children, and playful without…
