Health monitoring is more vigilant than standard

Given the genetic nature of their short legs, regular vet monitoring is recommended to check for any spinal issues that can sometimes be associated with the mutation. Our vet advises twice-yearly checkups. Our cat has been in excellent health for five years, but the monitoring adds both effort and cost to ownership that prospective owners should factor in.
