Great British Shorthair experience — just go in with realistic expectations
My British Shorthair Lily is 4 years old now and has been a wonderful companion. The breed lives up to its reputation: robust health. I particularly love that good with kids.
My one knock is that not a lap cat typically. I underestimated this when I first got she. Also, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy risk is something you need to plan for. It's not a dealbreaker but requires commitment.
On the health front, obesity. Budget for that and you'll be fine. Four solid stars — would recommend to the right owner who knows what they're getting into.
