Very healthy breed compared to similar cats
Balinese don't carry the same genetic health vulnerabilities as their Siamese cousins. Our girl has been in excellent health for six years with no breed-specific issues. Good breeding and regular care has kept her robust and active. I appreciate this longevity — she's clearly going to be with us for…

Adapts to other pets well
Our Balinese was introduced to a dog and existing cat. Within two weeks she was in charge of both of them. She approached the dog with confident curiosity and the dog's respect followed naturally. She decided the other cat was acceptable and their relationship, while not warm, is peaceful. The confi…

Vocal demands can be intense
On days when I'm behind on feeding schedule or interactive play, my Balinese has a persistent, carrying voice that she uses without restraint. It's communicative rather than neurotic but it can be a lot at end of day when I'm tired. Learning her schedule and keeping to it reduces this significantly.…

Everything a Siamese person could want
I've had Siamese cats and love the breed but wanted something slightly easier-tempered and more beautiful in coat. The Balinese is exactly that. Same intelligence, same affection, same interactive personality — with a more gentle touch and a gloriously silky coat. I won't go back to any other breed.

Silky coat, no matting — a genuine surprise
I worried about the long coat but the Balinese lacks a dense undercoat, which makes maintenance genuinely easy. My girl looks immaculate with twice-weekly brushing. The coat falls in a silky, flowing way rather than tangling or matting. It's actually less work than some shorthaired breeds I've owned…

Intelligent and deeply engaged with humans
The Balinese intelligence comes through in everything — how quickly she learns, how she adapts to my moods, how clearly she communicates what she wants. She follows conversations, tilts her head at relevant words, and has definite opinions about the television programme I'm watching. Living with her…

Talkative but less piercing than Siamese
My Balinese has things to say but her voice is slightly softer and more melodic than a classic Siamese. She holds conversations, announces arrivals, and expresses preferences clearly. The vocal quality is one of the things I love — it feels more like communication than noise. Perfect for someone who…

Needs company and stimulation
Balinese are too social and too intelligent to be left alone for long stretches. Mine gets bored and expressive when under-stimulated. I work from home which works perfectly, but if I worked long office hours I'd need to consider a companion cat or daycare solutions. The social need is real. Don't u…

Stunning looking, endlessly affectionate
The blue eyes, the pale coat with dark colourpoints, the flowing tail — everything about the Balinese is beautiful. And the personality matches: warm, curious, and completely devoted to their chosen person. My boy greets me every morning by wrapping himself around my head. Not subtle, but absolutely…

The perfect long-haired alternative to Siamese
All the personality and intelligence of a Siamese with the added beauty of a silky plumed tail. My Balinese is vocal, engaging, and affectionate in that characteristically Siamese way, but her temperament is slightly calmer and her coat is absolutely beautiful. The best of both worlds in one elegant…
